Year 7-10 & VCE Swimming Carnivals

What an incredible two days filled with energy, excitement, and memorable moments both in and out of the water! Over the course of the two events, 9 of the 15 captains from the Secondary Leadership went to help in both the Lower Secondary and VCE Swimming Carnivals.

Our College Captains Scott and Sidra, House Captains Arden, Alyssa, Ruby, Thenul, Yul, and Jemimah, along with Sports Captain Jaden, were all actively involved throughout the day. They marshalled, cheered, swam, and even sang, all while showing true leadership. To wrap up each day, the team indulged in a well-deserved 'team-building' Maccas run as a celebration!

The day was filled with thrilling events, from the Floatie Relay to the Oversized T-shirt Relay, and even an intense game of Water Polo. These, along with the main races, created an atmosphere of fun, friendly competition, and pure excitement.

While Deakin claimed victory in the Lower Secondary Carnival and Parkes took home the win in the VCE Carnival, every participant—whether in the pool or cheering from the sidelines—was a winner. All helping to foster a vibrant and supportive culture that we hope will continue throughout the rest of the year.

We can’t wait to see you all at the upcoming Cross Country and Athletics events! Let’s keep the momentum going!

A Message from Our Deakin House Captains
Deakin places first in the Year 7-10 Swimming Carnival

“The 7-10 Swimming Carnival was a day filled with laughter, determination, and competitive spirit! Students arrived at Noble Park Aquatic Centre ready to represent their houses—not only through their swimming but also through their extravagant costumes and bright colours. The carnival started with a warm-up led by the student leaders, featuring the likes of 'Cotton Eye Joe' and 'The Chicken Dance'. The students’ enthusiasm set the tone perfectly for the rest of the day. Following this, the swimmers took their marks for their races. Standouts included state swimmers Grace and Joshua Dou, who won their races by a country mile! Thanks to their resolve and strength of will, Deakin ended up pulling out the win! The staff and student leaders could not be more proud of the work and effort the 7-10 students showed.”

After 6 long years Parkes was finally able to bring home a win, we are so proud of everyone! Congratulations to the champion swimmers Bonnie, Gabriel, Chloe and Dinil who were outstanding throughout the day. A massive thankyou to the teachers and students who helped to run and organise this event! GO PARKES!!!”
