Board News – August

It is a difficult year in so many ways. So it was good to hear from Peter Lewis that we have promises from God that he will be with us always. He is not just with us, but he is actively with us. This means Jesus is with and helping us all at St Andrews Christian College.

Yvonne Hughes gave a presentation on Primary School. It was good to hear that some old things are still relevant, and new things are being embraced. The whole Primary team have worked together to form some guidelines that reveal and build the culture of Primary School at St Andrews. This includes a focus on discipline, but also involves celebrating achievements. These celebrations help to build community, particularly the picnic at the start of the year. We intend to hold a Grade 6 Graduation at the end of 2021.

Yvonne pointed out that Biblical Studies continues to play a crucial role in the Primary School, and will become a significant part of their graduation. Her role as the Child Protection Officer has grown in recent years. The Board is very pleased to know that she has this role and takes it seriously.
We thank God for our teachers and all staff who are involved in our Primary School.

The Board members have received their copy of “Strategic Directions 2021-23.” You will receive a copy when the children return to the College. If you are really keen, you can see a soft copy of it HERE.

Please take time to read this and be encouraged.

The Board is looking at some property expansion options. We hope to bring something more to the community as soon as practicable.

Many of you will already be aware that St Andrews was chosen by The Age as the winner of 2021 Schools That Excel in the non-government category. You can read the report here – https://www.theage.com.au/national/victoria/schools-that-excel-st-andrews-a-standout-in-the-east-20210518-p57sty.html

We congratulate everybody at St Andrews for this. Have you written to your teacher or Principal to acknowledge this reward for their hard work?
